Seven UK sporting organisations collaborate on a new Clean Games Policy

  • The British Olympic Association, British Paralympic Association and Commonwealth Games Associations for England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales have all signed a new Clean Games Policy developed in collaboration with UK Anti-Doping
  • The Clean Games Policy ensures mandatory education for all UK athletes and support staff ahead of major international competitions
  • The Policy covers the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games, Commonwealth Games and corresponding youth events from April 2025 to March 2029

UK athletes competing at major international competitions, along with their support personnel, will receive comprehensive anti-doping education under a renewed Clean Games Policy launched today.

The Policy ensures every athlete and support personnel representing the UK receives mandatory training before an Olympic Games, Paralympic Games, Commonwealth Games and corresponding youth events.

UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) collaborated with the British Olympic Association (BOA), British Paralympic Association (BPA) and Commonwealth Games Associations for England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales to review and renew the Policy - which sets out clear responsibilities for each organisation on anti-doping education.

The four-year policy runs from April 2025 to March 2029. Under it, UKAD is currently delivering anti-doping education to athletes and support personnel for Milano Cortina 2026, ahead of the 25th Winter Olympic Games in February and the 13th Winter Paralympic Games in March.

Jane Rumble, UKAD’s Chief Executive, said:

“The Clean Games Policy demonstrates the UK’s collective commitment to fair competition by embedding clean sport education into the preparations for major international events. Our goal remains to ensure athletes and support personnel understand their anti-doping rights and responsibilities.

“We’re proud to stand alongside the BOA, BPA, and Commonwealth Games Associations for England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales in this partnership. Their leadership and support reinforce the importance of clean sport and the pivotal role of education. Together we are united in upholding the values of fair play on the international stage.”
