Clean Sport Week

Raising awareness of drug-free sport

Clean Sport Week is UK Anti-Doping's (UKAD) annual campaign bringing together sporting organisations, athletes, coaches and communities across the UK to celebrate fair play and champion drug-free sport.

In 2026, Clean Sport Week took place on 11 - 17 May. The theme was 'Built not bought. 100% me'.

Lasting success comes from hard work, talent and dedication. It cannot be bought, and it should not be risked.

Young people exposed to harmful misinformation online

Clean Sport Week 2026 highlighted the concerning health risks and online misinformation around the sale of SARMs (Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators).

SARMs are experimental drugs designed to have similar effects to testosterone and other anabolic androgenic steroids. They have not been approved for human use by any official medicines or healthcare product regulatory agency in the world, yet they are widely available to purchase online. Clinical trials and case study reports have linked SARMs to severe adverse effects, including liver injury/failure, increased heart attack and stroke risk, and thrombosis.

A new public survey released by UKAD at the beginning of Clean Sport Week revealed that a third of young respondents said they had purchased SARMs1 at some point in their lifetime after seeing them advertised or promoted on social media.

11,043 young people aged 16-25 years were surveyed by Censuswide, on behalf of UKAD.
