UKAD to deliver comprehensive anti-doping programme for Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games

UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) has been confirmed as the anti-doping contractor for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games which run from 28 July to 8 August.

UKAD will work in partnership with the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) and Birmingham 2022, to deliver a comprehensive anti-doping programme that protects Commonwealth athletes’ right to clean competition and maintains public confidence in the Games.

The anti-doping programme will deliver education and intelligence-led testing programmes during and in the run up to the event when around 4,500 athletes from 72 Commonwealth nations and territories will compete at 21 venues across Birmingham and the West Midlands.

Speaking on the announcement, UKAD Chief Executive, Jane Rumble said: “We are delighted to be playing a vital part in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. UKAD has a strong track record of delivering anti-doping programmes at major international events. Our highly skilled team of anti-doping experts and field staff together with our collaboration with the CGF and Birmingham 2022 will give the public confidence in the Games, and reassurance to athletes that the Games will meet the highest standards of anti-doping processes.
