UK Anti-Doping to carry out testing at European Athletics Indoor Championships

UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) has been selected as the Supplier of Anti-Doping Services for the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow.

The Championships start today and conclude on Sunday, during which time UKAD will be carrying out anti-doping tests with participating athletes.

The appointment follows last summer’s European Championships, also hosted by the Scottish city, where UKAD carried out all areas of the Sample Collection process which directly involved athletes, including notification of a test, sample collection and sample transportation, as well as processing the doping control forms.

UKAD’s Head of Testing, Emma Price, said: “With Glasgow again hosting a major international sporting event, we are delighted to be able to offer our services to ensure anti-doping testing procedures are of the highest possible standard.

“UKAD’s Doping Control Personnel (DCP) are highly regarded and have a wealth of experience at such high-level events, having been involved in the inaugural European Championships in Glasgow last summer and with a number being selected as part of the team at last year’s Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.”

Championships Director for the European Athletics Indoor Championships 2019, Joanna Sutherland, said: “We are delighted to have UK Anti-Doping as our as Doping Control partner for the European Athletics Indoor Championships 2019. The experience that UKAD brings to the event will ensure a world-class service for athletes and teams, European Athletics and the LOC.”
