Sample collection procedures shall be carried out in accordance with the sample collection procedures outlined in the two previous sections, unless modifications are necessary due to an athlete's disability.
A representative may be required to accompany the athlete during the sample collection session. This would occur if the athlete:
- Requires assistance with balance; with holding the sample collection vessel or dividing the sample into the A Sample and B Sample bottles
- Has an intellectual impairment
- Has a visual impairment
The Doping Control Officer (DCO) or Blood Collection Officer (BCO) has the authority to make modifications to sample collection procedures, where necessary, without compromising the identity, security or integrity of the sample.
Athletes that use urine collection or drainage systems, will be required to drain existing urine from such systems and replace the bag, where there is one available, before providing a urine sample for analysis.
Note: Athletes who provide whereabouts filings and need assistance during sample collection, must only submit times and locations when there is likely to be someone available to accompany them throughout.
