The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) is seeking applications for Board members for UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) which is taking over as the UK’s National Anti-Doping Organisation by the end of the year.
The six successful applicants will join recently-appointed Chair David Kenworthy in providing strategic advice and directions, initially on setting up the new body and then on ensuring UKAD delivers a world-class anti-doping function.
“Kenworthy said: “The Board will play a key role, both in shaping the new organisation ahead of its launch and then providing effective strategic support and advice once it is operational. This is an exciting new venture and I’m hopeful the opportunity to be involved in driving forward anti-doping in the UK will attract a number of high-calibre candidates.”
The deadline for applicants is 8 September, and full details can be found on the DCMS website.
UKAD will be responsible for the existing test management and education responsibilities currently carried out by UK Sport, together with significant new powers including the centralisation of case management and a strong focus on developing the new organisation’s capabilities in the use of intelligence. These changes will ensure that the UK is best-placed to tackle doping in sport in the run-up to London 2012 and beyond.
