UK Anti-Doping is pleased to announce two of its senior management team in preparation for a start date of 14 December 2009, as recently announced by Gerry Sutcliffe, the Minister for Sport.
Nicole Sapstead, currently Head of Operations, Drug Free Sport, UK Sport, will become Director of Operations. Nicole will be responsible for leading the establishment of the new intelligence function and for the delivery of the testing progamme. In early 2010 she will also be responsible for the further development of the science and medicine team to enhance UK Anti-Doping’s work in this area. Nicole brings with her over 12 years experience in anti-doping and nine years working for an anti-doping organisation and is extremely well positioned to deliver an efficient and dynamic anti-doping programme to deter and detect doping in sport.
Heading up the Legal function will be Graham Arthur. As Director of Legal, Graham will be responsible for managing both analytical and non-analytical results, consistent with the World Anti-Doping Code and UK Anti-Doping Rules. Graham brings a wealth of experience in anti-doping and has acted as Counsel to the International Paralympic committee (IPC) for the past five years. His experience of working with law enforcement agencies on intellectual property enforcement matters will ensure that UK Anti-Doping will be in a strong position to operate effectively with UK Anti-Doping’s new partners.
Recently appointed UK Anti-Doping Chief Executive, Andy Parkinson is pleased with the new team set up, “I’m delighted to have two of our four Directors on board” he said. “The standard of applicant was exceptional and we had a vast pool of talent to call upon. We are on track with our recruitment and I am confident we now have the beginnings of a strong leadership team in place ready to deliver anti-doping services of the highest quality and to realise our vision of protecting sport in the UK from the threat of doping.”
Both Directors are expected to start in advance of 14 December.
